Oncology Massage Certification - 12 CE hours - (Tuition $350)
In 2025 5,000 people a day were diagnosed with cancer. Becoming a certified oncology massage therapist is an invaluable skill to add to your professional toolbox. In whatever environment you are working in, you will encounter clients who need this specialized training. This class will prepare you to deal with the specific needs a cancer patient needs at any time during their treatment schedule.
Employment opportunities and marketing discussion. A beginning lecture will familiarize you with the history of cancer in our lives, how oncology massage was created, and common cancer treatments.
Beginning hands on work: Demonstration of the Walton Pressure Scale. Practice time.Manual lymph drainage techniques for upper and lower torso demonstrations and practice. This day will end with partners trading a full body massage utilizing the Walton Pressure Scale and MLD.
Day Two: Hands on demonstrations and practice – how to correctly position clients with ports/and/or medical devices, swollen limbs, breathing difficulties, side-lying massage, and possible extra draping. How to deal with scar tissue – MD Anderson’s Dr. Garvey, “Six Key Elements to Massaging Scar Tissue.” Practice time administering these techniques.
Real Time Experience: Each student receives a scripted cancer diagnosis complete with medication lists, symptoms, and treatment schedules. Their partner will complete an intake form and perform an hour-long oncology massage. Trade.
